Honest questions
Does Verida predict future prices?
No. No tool predicts the future. Verida measures the past rigorously: microstructure, indicators, backtesting and ML are analysis tools, not forecasting ones. Markets are unknowable.
Do I need an AI key to use it?
For the conversational assistant, yes — you need an LLM key. It works with paid providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) and free ones (NVIDIA NIM, local Ollama, etc.). Without a key, other features (charts, indicators, backtesting, microstructure) work normally.
Does it work for stocks?
Yes, for candles via Yahoo Finance (AAPL, PETR4.SA, ^GSPC, etc.). Book/trade microstructure at 1-second resolution is only available for Binance (crypto), as regulated stock exchanges do not expose L2 publicly.
Is it free?
The free plan is fully functional with no time limit: 1 cached series (1 asset + 1 timeframe), classic indicators, Binance/Yahoo data, AI chat. Premium adds 100 series, full microstructure, ML, CT indicators and deep history.
Is it open source?
The MCP server is open core — the code is auditable. The desktop app and proprietary CT indicators are part of the commercial model. It's not fully open source — it's open core where it matters: the composition interface.
